How many years in University does it take to train someone to be a Lawyer? (In the UK) Also..how long are the post-graduate studies if you want to train to be a Lawyer?? Do you train to be a Lawyer at an ordinary University...or a Law school?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Generally speaking, you need to do a 3 year law degree and then after that, if you want to specialise you could then do a masters degree, or you can go straight on to do the 2 year legal practise course. Both the degree and the legal practise course can be done at almost any University. You could then join a law firm on a 2 year trainee basis. The only thing to be aware of is that the legal practise course can be quite expensive. Some top London firms will offer you a trainee place and will sponser you to do this course, but they will only take on people who are expected to get a 2.1 degree. Good luck
The latter parts of the routes into practising law diverge depending upon the chosen specialism. There's no such specific occupation as a 'lawyer'. You have to choose whether to train as a solicitor or as a barrister.
