Many colleges only offer the NVQ courses which are accredited by Edexcel. The entry requirements for levels 2 and 3 in barbering normally expect students to either have some general hairdressing experience or to have achieved at least NVQ level 1 in general hairdressing (which includes ladies hairdressing).
However, other colleges offer NVQ courses accredited by VTCT. These courses don't have the same entry requirements as the Edexcel courses. (i.e. it's possible to study barbering exclusively, without the ladies hairdressing components).
I suggest that you should contact your local colleges, which are registered with VTCT, to ask them if they offer the barbering courses. You can track down the college details here:
