Missed signing on at Jobcentre
9 Answers
Hi. I realised earlier I was meant to sign on at the Jobcentre last Thursday. It's usually the last Thursday of the month and I was convinced it was this week. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and explain but I was wondering if this will affect my benefits. I've not missed an appointment before and it was a genuine mistake.
Thanks

this has happened to me!
i genuinely got mixed up and i went in expecting to sign as usual, only to be told i should have come last week - i told the truth and apologised and they were fine with it.
as has been said, it depends on the person who deals with your case and how often it happens - some of them are jobsworths and others are just peopls doing a job
don't worry about it - but go in asap though

Hi. I went in today and just told them the truth. They were fine with it. My claim had been stopped and I had to fill in forms to start it again which seems like a bit of a waste of paper to me. The lady I saw said herself that she thinks it's silly and doesn't agree with it. I lose one day's money which isn't a lot really. I think you're right in it depends on who you see. They all seem pretty friendly where I go though.
