Hi, could someone please tell me what "job-sharer" means? I've recently applied for a job and on the application form it states, "Please indicate if you wish to be considered for this post as a job sharer " and I am a bit stumped as to what this means. Thanks in advance.

hi it just means that you could share the job with someone else if you want to split hours between you
Yes. It's a way of having the duties and responsibilities of a full-time post, but with fewer hours.

I job share and it's ideal for me. However, you do need to be an efficient communicator. Our post is such that we get no overlap/changeover period, and so any information has to be communicated via email and a special notebook that we both use.

Most people split the week at Wednesday lunchtime, but we each work alternate Wednesdays, and that works for us. However our office managers also job share, but one of them is a mature student, and so their hours are all over the place (by mutual agreement, of course).

Whatever, it's vital that you and your jobshare partner get on, even though you hardly see one another.
