This might seem rather petty and silly, but this morning. A person in our office, who hasn't been in our team all that long, brought in a bacon sandwich for everyone apart from me. It wasnt as though she made a mistake as she offered no apology or anything.

Personally that is not something I would do. If i were buying for a few people in the office I would buy for everyone. (After all there is only five of us!!)

Now, she didnt phone in to ask who wanted in she just did it. As I am the only person in the office who is hierachly lower than her (so to speak) I cant help but think this is a bit of a brown nosing a**e kissing measure?

Now this really got me annoyed or am I just being silly?

Maybe a quiet word with her to see what the problem is, don't leave it has these things tend to escalate and can end in petty disputes.

Is your supervisor/ manager aware, do you have team meetings? Don't think your being silly if it upset you. Their could be a simple reason for this but you will only find out if you confront the issue put it behind you and move on.

GOOD LUCK

Thanks for that Law Man,

I have tried bringing things up in team meetings but when everyone is there I find it hard to say how I really feel.

I think this whole sandwich thing is just the tip of the iceberg really.

I am never invited into meetings, virtually always the last to be considered when it comes to making arrangements such as who goes to lunch when, and I feel I am not part of the office clique. I have been here now for two years and on a one to one basis I get on with everybody, but when it comes to being a group I feel I am a complete outsider.

I think I can here the job pages of the local paper calling!!!!
In that case, you are not a team! Next time someone refers to "the team" or you as a member of it, you can ask what that means to the boss and everyone else. Ideal opportunity to have an informal chat about your place.
Ok, but please don't bring up the fact that you weren't bought a bacon sandwich at a team meeting or anything! That's not the sort of problem to bring to a meeting.

If however there are other issues (work issues), which you seem to say in your reply there are, then certainly bring those up.

If you feel you don't fit in then maybe it is time to move on anyway?
I think you ought to buy enough bacon buns for everyone in the office, announce that you have done so and eat 2 in front of them, then throw the others in the bin then say something like 'but you're not having them since i dont seem to count in this team/office' Lol
