Selling on Ebay

i have spareroom full of junk thats really too good to throw away - clothes, books, fishing rods etc etc. Kept talkin about selling it on ebay all last year but i know nothing about ebay so not been motivated to do it. Now my deadline has come and im going to sort my room out i need to get to grips with the ebay site, any info would be appreciated.

Hi, I sell on Ebay and it really is easy. The site takes you through step by step. You will need a digital camera so that you can include pictures of your items. Always be honest about their condition. Be realistic as to the cost of post and packing. Get the new post office leaflet re sizing and weight. Its handy to be able to weight your things so you can put the postage cost on your item, so get a good pair of kitchen scales. Be aware that it costs to list items, plus more when you sell (on a sliding scale). If you accept Paypal in payments (very convenient) it will also cost you, again on a sliding scale according to how much things sell for. All in all, its good fun. Ebay often have special 'cheaper' listing days, so it might be worth waiting for one of those and trying out a few items. Searfch for similar items on ebay to see how many bids they are getting, and check other people's postage costs. Some are really trying it on. I would never bid on anything which had to my mind, high costs. Very good luck. I am having a sort out too, and am going to list some large size clothing which is all unworn.

Ebays become my second income, just remember though you have to be really accurate with the items description and if you think (clothes wise) that their not fit for selling give em to a charity shop. Oh and regarding your fishing gear you`ll be surprised how many people bid on items like that.

Get yourself registered on eBay, buy a couple of items so you can get a feel for how it works.

When you first start to sell, list just a few items, so you can be sure you are not making glaring mistakes.

It is easy, and fun. Get plenty of bubble wrap from the grocery aisle of your nearest supermarket. :)

thanks for info another question has come to mind!......do you use ordinary post? is that reliable enough? is there some more secure way that would be preferable?

I always send my items out recorded delivery or if its quite an expensive item then it goes by Special Delivery. You can always get proof of postage but some people (but not all) might try and pull a fast one and say they never received the item which in some cases they might not. But to be on the safe side I always make sure the items that I send out always require a signature

For items under �32 I send standard first or second class and get a free certificate of posting from the post office.

If the buyer says they have not received the item, I refund and claim compensation from the Post Office. This always works out well - and a lot of people are at work and find recorded delivery inconvenient.

In over 3000 sales, I have had to claim 3 times only.
