You are only allowed to work 2 hours on a school day, up to 5 hours on a Saturday and up to 2 hours on a Sunday. You are not allowed to work past 7pm at night. You are not allowed to handle any dangerous equipment such as cutting tools or allowed to prep any food products. I employ a couple of teenagers on Saturday shifts in my restaurant, I had to obtain work permits for them, but I have to be very careful that I observe all the rules and regs or I could be in trouble even if I did not deliberately flout the rules. Also employers worry about the reliability of youngsters and their common sense! Sorry, I don't mean to label you or try to put you off, but from this you may be able to see why you are finding it difficult! I would suggest having a word with your school to see if they can support you, perhaps they know places that will give you a chance? Or perhaps offer your services to a cafe or restaurant free of charge for a couple of Saturdays with a view to them taking you on with a work permit?
Best of luck in your quest, by the way if you do find work, don't get ripped off on payment.. I pay my teenagers 4 an hour to start and then pay them full minimum wage once they are fully trained. I don't see why age should come in to it, if all my employees are working at the same pace, but not everyone holds my view!
