Teaching - Idiots Guide to Pay & Conditions

Hi all,
I'm after being pointed towards a website that might be able to give guidance on teachers' pay & conditions, with specific interest in looking at when a teacher on say an 80% contract covers for a 100% colleague ie actually goes on to work 100% for a short period of time eg two weeks or a month.
Any pointers?

Personally I would expect to pay the 100% rate for the period covered. They might need to query this with their Local Authority Human Resources dept.

Of course if they are in the independent sector ...!

I've just noticed you've said idiots guide - ignore the first link - that's the actual document. You could try one of the union websites - they are likely to be easier to follow!!

I can't find such a site, but what's the problem - are you on a 0.8FTE contract which is flexible about when you work the hours (to cover someone) but are finding the hours as a peak are sometimes more? if so, there must a fixed number of contract hours for you - so the swings and roundabouts work out over a whole year.

Basically, if you are teaching a full timetable for a week/month or whatever, you should be getting full-time pay for that period of time.

This should be dealt with by issuing a temporary increase in hours contract. Your HR dept in the LA will help.
