Is it possible to open a USA deposit account in $US if you are a UK resident? Can it be done over the internet? or do you have to be there in person?

Also, are there any charges apart from bank transfer fees that I may incur if moving money into the USA? tax etc?

thanks.

You can open a US Dollar current account whilst a UK resident through Citi Bank UK:

Also LLoyds do an international account which can be in both dollars and sterling.
