URGENT advice needed re: shops, leases & building regs...

my parents are closing their shop to retire after 27 years.

the last day is this saturday. the owner has today presented them with a list of jobs that he expects them to do.

along with all the usual ''tidy up and clean up, remove all stuff '' etc, but he has also said he expects them to have an asbestos check done and get a certificate, all wiring to be checked by an electrician and certified - and presumably all sorts of other little jobs that we think are the responsibilty of the landlordd to keep an eye on.

my dad is also a landlord so knows all about the rules regarding his responsibility to his properties.

according to the landlord it is new rules and regs just coming in... are there any?
there was mention of a health and safety directive MDHS100- what is this and where could i get a copy?

my mum and dad are 69 and 80 so i suspect he's trying it on, to get them to pay for it all, thinking they are just a pair of old duffers (boy did he get that wrong! lol)

if these rules exist, can anyone tell me what they are called, where i can find them, etc?

Your parents should have a lease stating the requirements,ie: repairs ,decorating etc. I would expect them to use a solicitor to wind up their business so he/she will want to look over the lease. Many people get ripped off because they are not aware of their rights, so please be careful.
