how long is acceptable to be getting emergancy taxed? my husband was working for Adecco agency but got taken on full time by the actual company, but adecco have always been rubbish at passing on his info and this is the 2nd month he's been emergancy taxed. other employees got taken on a couple of months before him and they are still gettin em taxed too. we really need the money so its bugging me!

Get him to ask his new employer for a P46 form. It's the form you fill in when you don't have a P45 and it's really simple. It will allow his new employer to move things along. This will put him back in control of the timescale a bit more. 3-4 months is the worst i've seen.
You can get the P46 from HMRC's website - just type P46 in the search field. If the new employer does not receive a P45 from the previous employer, they are required to complete a P46 and send it to HMRC.
As its the start of the new tax year you will only get a rebate on any emergency tax stopped on wages paid after 6th April this year, anything you paid before that will show on your P60 which the company must issue you with and then if you have paid too much in the last tax year you can now take it to the local tax office who will arrange a refund
