Help please - fab floor fillers for 40th Birthday party wanted!
We're going to a 40th Birthday party where we can DJ for 15 minutes courtesy of a company called 'Stick It On'. We have to (in their words) choose 15 minutes of top choonage to rock the dancefloor with.
Blimey, it's hard going, hubby and I can hardly agree on anything! Also, some of my choices have been snaffled already.
So I'm calling on you funky ABers to suggest some songs guaranteed to get people on the dancefloor. The average age of the partygoers will be 40 and it would be great to have music from the 70's, 80's, 90's and noughties (but probably not the Ibiza Ministry of Sound type stuff!)
So what 4 songs would you choose given this fun opportunity? Thanks!

Though you'd probably be lynched by a pack of rabid forty-somethings for ruining the party by reminding them of their youth!
Seriously though, you could play 'When You're Young' by the Jam or The Who's 'My Generation'..... Rock The House!

My four would be something like this :
Dave Edmunds - I hear you knocking
Status Quo - Anniversary Waltz (or just Caroline)
Ram Jam - Black Betty
Simple Minds - Alive and Kicking
This will change in the next 5 minutes though... I'll probably post again.

Wow, some great suggestions, thanks everyone and please keep 'em coming!
We'll need to have the music on vinyl or CD to take along with us and I know for a fact that Agadoo by Black Lace is NOT in our collection LOL! (Nor some of the others mentioned I might add!)
But I've now got to dig out the Beastie Boys CD so I can listen to Fight For Your Right to Party!

Jam - Town called Malice
Bon Jovi - Livin on a Prayer
G n R - Sweet Child O mine
Madness - Baggy Trousers
Dexys - Come on Eileen
Proclaimers
Rednex
Queen - Dont stop me now
Beasties - Fight for your right
Faithless - Insomnia
DaRude - Sandstorm
House of Pain - Jump Around
You get the jist. I Dj every weekend and those mentioned above and some of 4gets will get the place banging. I played the above on Sat at a joint 18th birthdays and the floor was rocking. Nothing personal but stay clear of reggae, to get a crowd going you need it loud and reggae doesnt always sound good cranked up. Bear in mind 15 mins will probably be 4 songs. Have fun ;-)

dont forget the 70s dance classic "i'm in the mood for dancing" by the nolans,if you wanna go on with the dancing theme in the title then play the 80s track "dancing in the dark" by bruce springsteen, then 90s "rhytem is a dancer" by snap and finish off with "dont feel like dancing" by the scissor sister, you will bring the house down, all four tracks 15 mins.then take a bow and demand to be paid for your top class service.
These four would be my choice for 15 mins of dancing.
1. Two can Play That Game - Bobby Brown
2. Finally - CC Penistone
3. Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
4 Livin On A Prayer - Bon Jovi
If the crowd shout for more !! give them a very old classic
# My Boy Lollipop - Millie
Hope You Have A Great Night, 40th's Are Alot Better Than 18th's, We Know How To Enjoy A Good Boogie.
