Seriously, I got sacked last year for something that I absolutely did not do. I'm currently waiting for the Employment Tribunal's decision, but in the meantime, I have not been able to get a job - of any description.
For a bit of background, I was always rewarded for being a high performing employee, I had never had any disciplinary issues before I got sacked and was highly respected by peers and managers. I was earning approx 30k, and redundancy was on the cards in my peer group.
I'd worked for this company for over 10 years, and couldn't believe what they did to me.
Has anyone ever been in this situation? I've managed to keep the debtors away so far, but am now looking at my home being repossessed. Any advice whatsoever will be gratefully received. ( I know that there is a section about money/careers etc but no-one seems to post there!)

I sympathize with your situation. If as you say you got sacked last year why wait till this year to assume the username "troubled"'

Because I am deeply troubled. I have managed so far by taking a mortgage break, selling my shares in the company I was sacked from etc., but never dreamt that it would take this long to be resolved. I am absolutely desperate.
sorry to hear about all your troubles. I would recommend Consumer Credit Counselling Service if you are having financial worries. They may be able to help you.

walk away, if you can aspire to a 30k job you must have the wherewithall to succeed elsewhere. Start again it really isn't hard I did it at 40years old.
Trinny, if someone has the interlect to achieve a salare of 30K plus share options, they must be pretty smart. My advice, take a grip, take stock, stand back, weigh up options, move forward.
Are you married, kids etc. ?
good point Doc
So you lose your job, now your house... for something you didn`t do?...yeh right!
I'm on your side troubled, change your perception of yourself to conqueror.
My mother used to say if money can fix it ,it cannot be that important.

Thanks Trinny, I will look into it.

Dr Spock - you sound pretty cynical, and I can understand why! You say that you managed to start again - can you tell me how? I've applied for so many jobs, but as soon as I have to explain that I was sacked (and awaiting the outcome of a tribunal) the door gets firmly closed.
sorry troubled, don't mean to be cynical, it's an age thing.
You must be smart to know the value of share options etc. Don't say sacked, just say dissagreement in the way you thought the company should be progressing.Be positive, sell yourself, make no apologies for your previous employees shortsightedness in not recognising your potential.
an old saying that works, "******** baffles brains"
use it to your advantage
I hope you get something sorted soon troubled, I have only just been made redundant, but can at least have the knowledge that I will get a good reference. Must be very difficult for you in your circumstances.
Hi troubled, personally I wouldn't tell them why you are no longer employed with you former employers, why not say that you decided you needed a change, had taken a sabbatical, cared for a sick relative, anything really. If you are worried about references, dont, all references are now is a form that has boxes to be ticked and always give the name of someone who will give you a good one (reference that is). Don't let this situation hold you back, start applying for jobs that pay 40-45k a year, that will show the barstewards!
Oh, say what the Doc said, that sounds much better!
quite right w . arpig, attack is the only way
Hi warpig, you must be my age perhaps, 62. You are allways sensible
Hi warpig......I sent you email earlier

Sorry troubled for butting in
LOL doc, i'm 39, maybe I am old before my time!!!!!!!
