English GCSE

My daughter has been ill for a while now and unable to go to school so has a home tutor.
She is currently doing her GCSE's and yesterday had her 2nd English paper (higher tier). She was unable to do the last question B2 as she ran out of time and i wondered how many marks she would lose for this?
She is in constant pain due to her condition and is on Fentanyl pain patches (stronger than Morphine) and a letter was provided by our GP for the education authority and the exam board. Her tutor said she worked really hard on the paper and just ran out of time. English is her best subject and i am hoping she will still get a good grade

i would imagine it would depend on how many question were on the paper and what weight was given to each one ... maybe the tutour would know? if the drs letter indicated that her illness was such that she needed more time to complete things than other people without her condition (eg if she had a hand injury that meant she had to write slower) that provision would have been made, so she is probably in the same situation as other students who took the exam and didnt get time to complete everything

I did the paper too, it is split 27 marks for section A and 27 marks for section B. To be brutally honest it was enough time, as it says on the top of the paper, you should spend 45 minutes on section A and 45 minutes on section B, did she not have extra time, as most people who have dyslexia do! (sorry bout the spellin'!)

Yes she had extra time but she is in constant severe pain and the drugs she is on slow her down,(a bit different to dyslexia)
Up until February she was so doped up with medication we didn't even think she would be able to take any GCSE'S let alone higher tier English. From Feb to April she had to concentrate on completing course work 4 pieces for English, 2 for Maths and 1 for Science which she did to a veryhigh standard. We know she tried her best and are very proud of her.

Sorry for being insensitive, but all i was saying was it tells you how much time to spend on what, i was told to move on to another question if you used too much time on the 1st one.

I am sure she will have done ok. She is trying college in Sept and has an unconditional offer to do Applied Science then Forensic Science. hopefully now her meds are working properly she can get on and be a "normal" teenager (is there such a thing as a normal teenager lol).
