The survival training you require is called RGIT, costs about 800 and you are expected to have done this prior to applying for jobs. Many agencies in Aberdeen, try checking out jobs on http://www.thisisnorthscotland.co.uk.

Work/pay/conditions/leave vary from person to person. Generally contractors arent treated so well as core crew. As an example my boyfriend works 2 on/ 3 off rota, benefits include health and dental plan with bupa, share incentive scheme, final salary pension and a great salary which I will not disclose. He gets 500 per day for any delays offshore, 40 per night nightshift allowance (not too bad when working 14 nights). He is still young and has a long way to go in the company so this will only improve over the years.
Offshore work is hard graft but you are well rewarded for it.
Having a trade (e.g. Electrician, Plumber etc) gives you a greater chance of getting a job offshore as skilled labour is in short supply. A lot of companies have older guys working offshore for them just now, who will be looking to retire in a few years, and due to reducing the apprentices during the slup in the oil about 10 years ago they have no one to carry on the skills.
Hi im not sure about all of your questions but i have used a really useful website before who gave me a lot of answers. They have a comprehensive list of job vacancies too.
