The college I work for runs the 16th/17th edition courses over 12 weeks, 2 hours per week. But you need a lot more than that to become a fully trained electrician!
Most people with no training whatsoever do the City & Guilds 2330 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology which is a 2 year course but also covers the regs.

I obviously only work for one College so can't say what others offer but we do run it part-time, on a Thursday night over 2 years.
Try googling some colleges in your area and look at their websites to see what they offer. The only problem you have now is that most courses started in September so you may have to wait until Sept 08 to start.
