16th edition is out of date come July 2008, the new 17th edition regs are published in January.

The college I work for runs the 16th/17th edition courses over 12 weeks, 2 hours per week. But you need a lot more than that to become a fully trained electrician!

Most people with no training whatsoever do the City & Guilds 2330 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology which is a 2 year course but also covers the regs.

thanks for the reply, would the 2330 course also be part time as i work 4 days full time at the moment, but could do full day Friday. Also anyone knowing of this course in Rotherham/Sheffield area would be welcome thanks.
I obviously only work for one College so can't say what others offer but we do run it part-time, on a Thursday night over 2 years.

Try googling some colleges in your area and look at their websites to see what they offer. The only problem you have now is that most courses started in September so you may have to wait until Sept 08 to start.
