want to be a chef

hi at 33 is it to late to train as a chef....?
i work full time in a job i dont like much and need to get some qualifications.
I enjoy cooking but being a husband, dad and home owner, cant afford to give up work.
are there any good home study courses out there that anyone has used, and gone on to get a job in the catering industry.
any info would be a great help.
