maybe i should of put this question under travel,,,,,any way i want to live in south africa soon ....i have dual citizenship so have two passports (british /and irish) i want to go and work and can prove my trade and all documentation..i also have over 50,000 gbp to take with me.....the big question is....can i take my thai wife? she is currently in uk with me under an eea family permit visa...she has her 5 year resident stamp so she can work and live anywhee in uk legally...after 5 yrs she can apply for citizenship or permanent stay.........any help at all would be greatly appreciated...thanks....would also like to here from anyone who has been and can tell me about work etc or opening smallbar /restaurant...cape town area....thankyou

I have heard that the wait for a work permit is around 5 months. You need to have a job to apply for a permit, then just wait. Seems crazy. Good luck, I envy you.
Check with the appropriate authorities.

If your trade is already catered for by native South Africans, you won't get in. They are looking for people to fill skill shortages or entrepreneurs who will create wealth and jobs.

You can inquire to some embassies and authorities. South Africa is easier to visit than it's neighbor African countries.
