I read the other day that bridesmaids may soon be forced to sign contracts agreeing not to put on weight or get pregnant before the wedding. One in five brides-to-be are so concerned that her bridesmaids might let her down that she would ask them to sign a "pre-nuptial agreement", according to a new poll. And nearly half said they would sack a bridesmaid who failed to stick to the rules. Have you ever been sacked as a bridesmaid for some reason or another?


The survey of 1,000 women asked women which clauses they would put in their contract. It found the biggest gripes were with bridesmaids who put on weight, became pregnant or changed their hairstyles before the big day.

My friend asked me to die my hair back to my normal colour for her wedding day. I think I had a red dye going through my hair and she said it would clash with my dress.

Suggested clauses included one saying bridesmaids should not consume more than 10 units of alcohol or make advances towards "inappropriate male guests" - or the groom.

Many women who had already married reported stories of their bridesmaids letting them down on their big day�.how could you?

One woman said her maid-of-honour left her dress at a service station on the way to the wedding after deciding she didn't like it, while another revealed a bridesmaid had left 30 invitations unsent in her desk drawer.
When you read stories like that it's maybe not a bad idea. Maybe official contracts are the way forward for brides struggling to keep the peace.

My best mate is dragging me swimming and to the gym 3 times a week because she ordered my dresses a size to small......ON PERPOSE!

Oh dear....And there was me thinking a wedding was about enjoyment, fun and celebration! If you feel you can't trust your bridesmaid to be there for you on your "big day", then you should probably rethink your choice! Mistakes are human, nothing can be "perfect". The important think is to enjoy yourself and hope that everyone else is too, I would think, and not whether your bridesmaid hair matches her dress, or whether the dress is going to be a bit tighter than expected....
