Seeing people (the bereaved) at their most vulnerable and needy very quickly gets to you. It's hard to detach yourself. Yo also become attached, in a strange way, to the deceased because you know they were loved by these bereft people. I found myself talking to them and saying 'goodnight' to them when I closed up in the evening! I wonder if working in a morgue, without the contact with the deceased loved ones is different??
No I dont WANT to work with victims before hand but experience is everything and thats what i have been advised to do. Its not easier if anything its harder but some one has to do it Iam only 18 but have worked in a funeral parlour for a year and at first it affected me but I have learnt to seperate myself from work and home. Thanks for your answers I actually found a placement yesterday.
