Does anyone know the answer to this? My sister has two cats who are generally fit and healthy. She takes good care of them and worms and de-fleas them regularly using frontline from her vets surgery. The trouble is, periodically, one or other of them has a sudden loss of fur and sometimes they develop dry skin with sore areas. She has taken them to the vets, who have given them injections which have helped for a short time, but the problem always returns. When they lose the fur, they look terrible - really mangy and it takes ages to grow back. Has anyone got any idea of the cause of this and what she should do, as she doesn't want to keep having to pay for the very expensive vetenary treatment?
My sister had the same problem a few years ago the vet told her it was mites under the skin, after an injection he was as right as rain.
hope this helps
Have you got foxes nearby? They could be causing your cat infections, also hedgehogs which are jumping in fleas. Flea powders once a month should control fleas.
