first aider pay?

Should i be paid any extra for being a first aider at work? People i went on first aid course with said they get an extra amount either in december or april? should i?

Some firms will pay people, but there's no obligation whatsoever on firms to do this.
Was everyone else there from your firm? If so, then it's only fair you should get it too. So ask your manager whether you will get the payment
But if the other people were from another company then the fact that they receive a payment doesn't mean your firm should pay you.
Anyway, it's a useful qualification to have.

I'd done various stuff like first aid, fire warden etc... and never known anyone ever get paid for it, usually done by people who are happy to help out.

I'd say firms are usually able to find volunteers to do it for free rather than have to pay someone.

Assuming your pay isn't stopped if you have to perform first aid instead of the work you are being to do, then no legal obligation to enhance your pay at all.

Tesco pay their first aiders a monthly amount.

i was a first aider at asda and we got extra in our monthly pay i think it was a bout 20 p and hour extra!!!!

When I worked for the council and held a First-aider certificate, I received no extra payment.
But if I attended a function as the Token First-aider then I was paid my normal rate for the duration of the function.
