I think you need to contact Social Services. They will have a file on your husbands adoption, but they will give him counselling before he allowed to see the file. By going down this route your husband will have access to his original birth certificate, plus all the information that related to his adoption. There may even be more recent letters from any family who are looking for him.
hi donna.

I was reunited 4yrs ago, with the son I havent seen for 39 yrs. was fantastic.
My sister found him for me, on--- ukpeoplefinder

but still got to social services first for info, and whatever you can find out about the adoption.

good luck donna
Social servcies in the area he was adopted should be the first port of call but the British Red Cross also have a people finding section.
Also try places friends reunited etc, I think you can post a looking for message etc. If you know the area where his family came from, try an advert in the local paper.
A word of caution though, someitimes you get more than you bargained for when you find the family you never had.
Good luck
Hello! Our daughters are both adopted, one decided she did not wish to find her family while the other did. As previous answers have said go to social services or, if adopted through a society approach them. We found them most supportive, able to offer guidance. The result of this ,which took a while, is that we now have a much welcomed enlarged family! Good Luck.
We found my husband's birth mother mostly because he had his birth certificate and his birth name was very unusual. I trawled through phone books of the area in which he was born, and after about 5 phone calls, we traced her. She had eventually married his father and found out that he had 2 natural sisters.

All was well for about a year and then all contact was stopped and we never heard from them again. I would councel a warning as now my husband feels that he has been deserted twice. Good Luck though.
