Have you done a TEFL course, and if so, do you recommend it?

For whom? - who is presumably thinking of travelling to where?
This is a reply I gave some time ago to a fairly similar question (I don't know how to create a link).
However, could I PLEASE ask you to make sure that you get a qualification from a recognised board? This is the only way you can ensure that your qualifications are respected and credible. There are a lot of people out there with an 'Intro to TEFL' qualification which is quite useless in the job market., and a lot more people who think that just because they can speak English they can also teach it to learners.
I have been in TEFL/TESOL for quite some time, and despair when I see people wasting their money on courses that have little value in the employment market.
Two well-respected qualifications are Trinity Cert TESOL and Cambridge CELTA, and both of these have mandatory supervised teaching. These are what we look for when recruiting teachers. Have a look at the following:
http://www.cambridgeesol.org
http://www.trinitycollege.co.uk
However, it is difficult to get permanent posts in the UK and if you want to work overseas, check your employment conditions very carefully before making a considered judgement. Work with a reputable and well-established company, and don't be taken in by empty promises.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
