sickness from work
I became ill last week whilst I was working away from home with a work mate,I stopped on the job as we were about a 5-6 hour drive from home.On returning on Friday I attended the doctors and have some kind of virus. So today i rang in to let them know i would not be in probably all week.I was supposed to be submitting my L.E.V papers this week and was told by work my illness was not acceptable,as this was arranged for me to do and is the last week I could submit it.I have been reminding them for months that I had to submit the reports within 6 months or it would run out,so they leave it while the last week and then put the pressure on me because im not fit to attend work to do it.Is a self certification ok or should I ask the Doctor for a note just to prove i am actually unfit to work.Your advise is always good on here so look forward to your views.

No its local exhaust ventillation which obviously is a requirement by COSHH for extraction systems.I passed the exams 6 months ago,but you then have to carry out 2 field assesments and submit a four page document on each one which is required to be in within the 6 months. The point im trying to make is they have had all this time to let me do this and wait till the last week, and then because im ill and it wont be in on time its my fault.
the doc can still give you a note even if you wanted to seklf cert, noone can force you into work if you are unfit, especially if you are only just taking the sick leave. they cannot demand anything of you, it os bullying and intimidating and they are committing an offence to speak to you that way.
you should contact the authorising body for the LEV thing and explain they should be able to accomodate you. i hate firms like this, they are very unprofessional in their approach to staff
