Have partner here and giving him a chance to dictate to me (doesn't happen very often but he can't sit due to a bad back so am having to do the typing)!!
Not sure how recognised or useful any event courses are -if you are looking at conference,/exhibition type work there are many established companies and suggest you approach them as a free-lancer and try and get as wide a variety of work as you can to see what suits you. May mean starting at the bottom but in this line of work if you are keen and willing and stay calm and good humoured when you are dog tired you could go a long way fairly quickly - people will get to know you and in this world companies often stick with the same crew. I come from an action event background and the key to this is to find the production companies doing this kind of work such as action tv game shows, grand openings (such as the Olympics) or New year festivities or even your local Air Show. Just pester them to use you -turn up unasked and make yourself useful until they give you a job and always do the hard stuff no-one els wants to do. Inbetween big events check out corporate entertainment companies and try and get on to their events. Good luck Jon
