Mortgage insurance cover and JSA
2 Answers
My husband made a claim today for JSA, and he will get contrbution based for 6 months and then nothing, due to my earnings, however, he can still sign on. We have redundancy cover on the mortgage, thank goodness, and the evidence required to claim is that he is in receipt of JSA. The claim period allowed, is 12 months. My questions are- Has anyone had redundancy cover on a mortgage, and your JSA finished after 6 months? Did you still receive payment and if so, what was required as evidence by your insurer?
Hopefully, he will get another job, but I can't get hold of the insurer over the weekend and I am a bit concerned.
Thanks

The easiest way the insurer has chosen to get the policyholder to show this is through the JSA evidence. What the insurer clearly wants to avoid is continue forking out for someone who merely decides to bum around for 12 months just to be able to collect the money - not your situation, I entirely understand.
By all means check, but I am very confident you will find that the insurer just wants evidence that the policyholder is searching for work during the whole period of the claim. After the 6 months period, your husband will still be signing-on even if unable to be paid JSA. That should be enough.
