I know this is the worst time to be thinking about leaving a job, but the pressure of uni is mounting! I am currently employed by a large department store, working 8 hours a week. I began the position as a Christmas temp with many more hours in Novermber this last year. In the last two weeks my job has been made permanent and I was wondering how that affects how much notice I need to give. Ideally I'd like to only have to give two weeks notice. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You need to look at your contract, but the basic rule of thumb is if you are paid weekly, a week's notice should be all that is needed. If paid monthly, a month's notice or possibly more. But check your contract.

the problem is that i do not yet have a copy of my permanent contract only my temporary one, so I do not know which one to follow.
Then take the bull by the horns and give four weeks notice. Your uni work is more important. Phrase your letter to make it clear which date you will cease working on. In the letter make a simple statemen that you intend to comply by any contractual obligations but have not been given a copy of the updated version.
