Work Experience

Has anyone got Work Experience kids working with them at the moment. If so, what are they like?

Yeah, but they are little *******.

all the time, they are usually pretty good though - but they choose to come here (journo training) so are usually pretty into it. when we get a general lot who go round all the offices, they can be right little barstewards. i get my own back and save my filing all year for them...

Not forgetting going to stores for the long wait!!!

the opposite of PeaceTaker..........the last time I employed a lad on work experience one of the jobs I gave him was carrying out health and safety checks and individual risk assessments on working practices................the reports were hilarious (if not very grammatical)..........the conclusion he came to was that we should be shut down!!

I had to supervise a brain dead student in the studio... asked her to draw up a design template of 20cm square...

Ffs... she asked if I wanted it 'portrait' or 'landscape'...

I could type for hours about the youngsters I've trained and found lacking in what were referred to as basic skills but...............................with regards to modern technology they're miles in front of me and must consider me a dodo!!

i had a work experience who asked me to show them how to file alphabetically.

i can't file or spell to i just ignored them

Most of ours, the lads & the lasses, have been great.

We had one who left a few weeks ago who, in her letter of introduction, described herself as "Always comes with a smile......".
Bless her - that endeared her to me immediately.

She was great... I had her on about that comment - she blushed, bless her! Though she is by no means an innocent.... I bet she'll try that line on every job application from now on. :-)

I've got about 15 wannabe med students in a meeting room right now... I've asked my Consultant if the guided tour can not include my desk unless any of them are handy at filing.

We do have one actual med student who's a little poppet though. He bribes me with coffee if he wants to ask me how he goes about getting information... I've yet to tell him I'm happy with just a 'please.'

We had two start last week, one English work experience kid, who lasted two days and said he is not coming back (I didn't even meet him, so not my fault!) and a French exchange student, who is firstly 19, and secondly really hot! (now what other jobs can I find that need doing in the sales department)
