I have: 2 piercings in one nostril, one in each earlobe and one in my tongue. I've had others in my ears and navel that healed out. Also, nine tattoos on my arms, back, hip and thigh.

I have a tattoo, am very happy with it, but don't want any more. I used to have and earring, but not for about ten years now. I think the thing about body mods is that some people seem to get addicted to it. I have seen some people with bits of metal hanging off every available bit of skin, and I must say I do think that such people may be suffering from a self-image problem. In general though, I either like it or dislike it according to the individual case.

I don't really think that there's a problem with what consenting, sober adults choose to do to their bodies. If I or anyone else happens to disagree, that's their problem.

I have three tattoos all of which i have designed myself, one on my lower back, one on the side of my knee and one on the inside of my wrist, i do think they are addictive and so are piercings i have my nose, tongue, side of my lip, i used to have a labret piercing too, and my ears (two of my ear piercings are flesh tunnels) my boyf's ex had 56 piercings all over her body at one stage so i agree people can go too far, but i don't understand why some people have such a problem with it
I have 6 tats, got them in late teens ( my mis spent youth ) starting to fade now as they are over 30 years old. Today , designs are so much better than the choices i heard, particularly like celtic and tribal stuff although i will not have any more
got 4 tats & used to have my ear, both nipples & my tongue pierced (Took them out tho cos my wife wasn't too keen on them. She's not too keen on the tats either but they're going nowhere!)

Just to say, Kookiandmojo, that I have said I would never have any piercings, but I have never criticised anybody who has them.  Some are quite attractive.  The only thing I do disagree with completely and with no apologies is piercings on babies and young children.

As I have said before, I makes me feel physically sick to think of holes being punched into me.

Personally, I only like to see pierced ear lobes (which is what I have) & maybe a nose stud. My husband has a couple of tattoos on his arms from his younger days, which have never bothered me. I don't like to see babies or young children with piercings either & think parents should wait until their children are old enough to decide for themselves.

I don't think theres anything wrong with piercings and tattoos if thats what you want, I would never critisise anyone  and im not against it as its a personal choice each to their own I say.

personally I wouldnt have them all over as I am a wimp and couldn't bare the pain, I have my ears done and thats about it.

I have a friend who has several piercings some that you can see and some you can't !! her back is covered in a celtic tatoo which she designed herslf and I admire her for having the guts to go through all the pain to which she said she didn't feel ?!

I've never had/wanted a piercing though I do have tattoos.

It was considered de rigeur when I was in the Army to have one and I'd always fancied one anyway.  I've now got three, an oriental dragon on my upper arm, a Tasmanian Devil with my son's name and D.O.B on one shoulder blade and a butterfly with my daughter's name and D.O.B. on the other.

I'd like one more on the other arm to balance things up, then I'll stop there.

I have 7 current piercings and have had a few more than that b4. I am also considering a tattoo.  I think we often advise against it because it usually a younger person asking the advice and generally they are doing it for fashion and not thinking of the consequences.

My first piercing was when I was 6 weeks old.

I have one piercing, in my lip and 10 tattoos on my back arm and ankle. I used to have my ears pierced but I had a very, very nasty infection when I had my cartilage pierced which killed all the cartilage at the top of my ear, I'm still recovering from it and now have just half a right ear. SO understandably I've been a bit put off getting anymore piercings! I still like them though on other people. I'm still planning more tattoos and was supposed to have my half sleeve finished while I was in hospital so that's been put back for a while. I want another half sleeve and more added to my back. yes it is addictive ;)
i had my ears pierced wen i was 6 weeks old, then second holes when i was 12. when i was 15 i got my navel pierced and at 18 i got a tattoo on my lower back, its quite big actually. i do have a love hate relation ship with the tattoo but only because it was initally done wrong and nobody could tell what it was. now its much better as i had it 'fixed.' i will have another, but small and discreet.
kookiandmojo I am guilty of saying things againt tattoos & piercings. But what I meant was too many of them, like if someone had nine on the ears, lip, chin, eyebrow, tongue, navel, cheek, and tattoos all over the place. Some look attractive like say somebody has done only their nose, or only their navel which is shown off by a midriff baring top.
I have seven tats, one on my chest, two on my back, one on right leg,two on my left(one of which I did myself and it looks OK) and one on my big toe.

I'm rather with Mully on this one, i have my ears done and that is it!I am not against tattoos what so ever and would like one done one day but i have to find something i really like and it will be somewhere discreet, i nearly had one done when i was 16 but i am so glad i didn't beacuse the design i liked i don't now so a good job really,My mum had onewhen she turned 50 and then another a year later which i found quite funny getting rebellious in her maturer years bless her,I think the right amount of peircig looks really nice on other people but i'm not so keen on it when people go absoloutly made and have loops studs and god knows what allo ver there face im talking extreme here which none of you have on here judging on what i have read anyway. I'm abit scared of needles and stuff too so i probably would wimp out but i have been talking about getting my tongue peirced and my b/f is all for that lol.
I have 3 tatts (2 on my back and one on the bottom of my neck). I am nowhere near finished! I have 7 piercings in my ear lobes, one in the top of one ear and one the tragus of the other (the nobbly bit at the front). I also have my lip and my navel pierced and have had both my tongue and nose pierced. I may have my tongue done again one day, but currently I am happy with the amount of piercings. time to concentrate on my tatts! My mum told me off when i had my second earlobe piercing and told me not to get anything else. She said that after each thing i had done and I think she has now given up (it's taken 10 years!). My boyfriend has his ears and his lips pierced and is working on his sleeves and a chest piece. he also has a tatt on his thigh. I love them all. He's interested in getting his tongue split (like a snake) - so if any of you have info on anywhere in the UK who can do it that'd be great! It seems like everyone I know has some kind of peircing or tatt, it just seems the norm now!

Hi kookiandmojo, yes i am also guilty of saying things against piercings. But in the sense that i don't like to see children with them. Some of you here say you had piercings at 6 weeks old and i'm really sorry but i just don't agree with that. You should really be over 16 at least to make a sensible decision as they are permanent scars on the body, having them at that age means you had no say in the matter (obviously!).

Some piercings do look nice and suit people, it is only the age thing that i have a problem with.
