Have you always done the same job? I'm looking at re-training to be a reflexologist and want to know if any of you have had a major career change, if it was a good or bad thing? And if you stayed in the same job, do you regret not having done what you really wanted to?
You don't state your age but the younger you are and without any major responsibilities the easier it is. Also never get to an age where you look back and regret and decisions not made. There is only one life so make the most of it. If the career change is upward there should not be a problem. I would strongly be against a downward move because any future employer would be more likely to take that into account.
I'm 24 but have been in admin and on all sorts of related courses for 8 years. I just feel that if I'm still sat at a desk doing this in another 10 years I won't be happy. I'm not looking to have children for maybe another 3/4 years due to my boyfriends job and I don't have a mortgage so no major responsibilities. If I can get into reflexology I could become self-employed and be proud of achieving something and be doing something I want to do. I want to be able to help people but don't want to have to go to uni so I'm planning on doing my diploma from home (which I have researched and found a course) and then do so many hours practical. I think it can work but with most things there is a chance of failure!
I was a butcher running my own business for 7 years. I was offered a good price for the business, sold up and went to college. I emerged with a good degree, went on to do a postgrad professional qualification and am now an HR consultant, running my own business. Never regretted the change but I still know how to carve.
