meaning of ;'undertaking' in TUPE legislation.

i've been looking at lots if sites on this, managed to even get up the whole 35 page legislation, but i cannot find what is meant by 'undertaking', this would be crucial for the 3rd collective consultation meeting in Birmingham tomorrow, does anyone have any ideas please? TYIA Dotty

TUPE is an acronym for the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations

The word undertakings means 'any piece of work that is undertaken or attempted; "he prepared for great undertakings"
