Mobile Phone acting up!

I have a Philips "Savvy" Pay As You Go mobile phone. Presently it can be fully charged up showing 4 bars and yet when I dial a number it often just cuts out. Sometimes I can dial the number and it rings twice and then cuts out. Today I tried to change the time on it and after trying to key in the time (1437) I only got as far as 14 when it cut out. Have you any idea why it is doing this please or is it now time for the bin ?
