Would you complain to a company, or even the Jobcentre where the job was advertised, if when interviewed, the job bore little relation to the ad?

I would say wrong hours, pay, important duties not mentioned, emphasis on the smallest part of the job etc., are worth a moan to someone. What a waste of time for all concerned. As you can see - I'm furious!

You could complain to the employer but I am not sure what that would achieve. You should let the JobCentre know about the actual terms offered to you as they will be able to keep an eye on any further vacancies offered and it will stop others being needlessly referred.

Thanks TCL. I think it worth mentioning to the Jobcentre. As I said, what a complete waste of time all round.
Hi Rabbs. well if I went for an interview where the job description was different to the actual tasks required - I'd question it there and then. Otherwise - yes, tell the Job Centre if something's misleading.
I agree rabbity, I would also complain to the Job Centre. I know it's no help to you now but it will help them when sending other people. Sorry, you had a wasted trip and hope you have better luck next time.

Hi Icey. It was Tel's interview actually. He's not used to interviews. I told him I'd have given them a piece of my mind there and then - but he's too nice! He did tell them they should have mentioned doing telesales as part of the job. No way my Tel would be a telesales bod!

And they chopped 20% off the hours which they certainly should have mentioned when they asked him for interview last week.

Now I'm p'd off about it again....lol!
I'm sure there's some legislation that says firms can't do that sort of thing, but maybe they think they can get away with it with folk wanting jobs so badly.
Even so, good for Tel. Let him stick to what he knows and accept nothing less. x
