My niece is thinking about a career in hairdressing,how are they paid, is it just a weekly wage or paid by how many clients they have?

weekly wage with sponsoring to college/training. Clientele is built once qualified.
After starting out on a waged basis, many hairdressers go self-employed by renting a chair in a salon. (A lot of salons, which appear to be a single business, are actually several one-person businesses operating under the same roof). So every penny paid by their clients initially goes into the hairdressers' pockets but, of course, they have to pay their rent out of that money.

Out local salon pays a basic wage and then the stylsits earn commission on whatever they make above their weekly target and they have tips too.
