holiday pay
I have been employed at my job for 15 years. I work 7 hours a day 7am 2pm. Every holidays I got 35 hours pay per week as this is what I am employed to do. But now this year for my 2 weeks I only got 55 hours on asking why I was told they now pay holidays on an average of the last 6 weeks. During which I had a sickness bug and was off work 1 week. Is this legal can they do this. Spoke to another employee who works overtime every week but only got basic hours. If average surely he should have got more than basic if I got less. Anyone one got any info on this please,

no - your holiday pay is representative of what your normal working hours are. in this case you should have got your 35 hours per week. being sick has nothing to do with it unless you are long term sick and get paid enhancements (for unsocial hours, for example) in which case an average would be taken. they are trying to short chnage you. if you have an employment contract, read that too to check the small print. bar stewards! x
The calculation seems wrong anyway if you were only off for one week during the six week period- you should have got 58 hours shouldn't you.
By the way, if you work 7.00 am - 2.00pm and get paid for 7 hours that means you either work without a lunchbreak or you get a paid lunch break paid. Is that right?
