Can anyone advise as to how I can get a copy of my P45? I got made redundant last September and have just got a new job!!! They need my P45, which I appear to have part 1A of but not the rest, which reading it is the bit they need. I have no idea where the other parts are, they are not with all my redundancy paperwork, is it possible to get a copy?

A P45 is only valid if the date of leaving the last job is in the same tax year as the new job. It is used by the new employer to get your year to date taxable pay, tax paid and tax code.
If you have been claiming Job Seekers Allowance since last September then the Job Centre would have asked for parts 2 & 3 from your P45.
As others have said, P46 is what you need to fill in, which is a declaration saying that the new job is your only or main employment.
And congratulations on the new job!

the jobcentre will send you a P45 a week or so after you are signed off, I,ve just rung them myself to ask about this as I start work 1st October and wondered about that, the firm i worked for up to last week will send me a P45 over the next 2 weeks but it won't be valid when I start with the new firm as I have claimed contributions based JSA between jobs.
