Receiving P45 and payslips

I left my last job a month ago and was told I would be getting my P45 within 2-3 weeks. I also requested my last couple of payslips. I have received neither. I understand that there may be delays due to the post strikes. Where do I stand though? Must the employer post the P45 to me? What about payslips? What can I do to get these? I have rang the employer and kindly asked them again to post them to me.

Agree that these need chasing up and you are legally entitle to them. However they don't actually stop you getting another job or claiming JSA. Explain this to a new employer - they will get you to complete a P46 form instead to get you started.

The only thing the delay will affect will be the tax code you are given in new job. You would be taxed on a week/month 1 basis rather than accumulative. More tax to pay, but you would get it back eventually.
