Job Seekers Allowance.

Not sure where to post this query, but someone must have come across this. I am 75 and have agreed that my 45 year old son can come and live with me, we get on well and he can help around the house. He is on Job Seekers Allowance and I understand that although if he lived in rented accommodation he would get housing allowance, if he moves in with me he will get nothing. I am prepared for this but it seems very unfair, If I rented my room privately to someone on this benefit presumably they would pay me. Apart from anything else I will lose my single owner council tax allowance, so it does seem unfair.

As you will be the sole occupant apart from your son & he is on JSA you can very likely get a "second adult rebate" on your council tax, which is the same 25% as your present single adult discount. Ask CAB or your Council about this.
