Rubbish.
SOME brits are lazy, but only because they are ALLOWED to be as they can live on benefits for life.
And while SOME immigration is good for a country we dont need the huge influx we have had in the last few years.
I walk round Birmingham and at times it is like walking round Iraq or Pakistan. We DONT need immigration at that level.

Even "good ones" that arrive can be a problem in years to come.
Many of the West Indians that came here in the 1950s were decent, hard working people.
But the children of these people, and the children of their children, are now part of a huge problem we have with "black people" in this country.
Drug gangs, gun crime, knife crime, unemployment, no go areas, mugging etc etc.
So you can let in "decent" people, but their children (and their children) can easily change and become a huge problem in the future.

We don't need immigration at all. We don't have 100% employment and are already overcrowded.
We need to work towards more folk emigrating than immigrating.
But change/expand the question into one of how can you tell the work shy from those in need, and what can we do to change to it, and you have something to discuss.

Like VHG says the immigrants have taken over most of our large towns and cities. Most of them are illegal. Our weak government has done nothing about it as most of them will vote Labour. We have turned ourselves into a third world country overnight and there is nothing we can do about it. Only people over 30 would have noticed this dramatic change in our culture.
>Yes because looking at an area of high immigrant population has to reflective of the whole country doesn't it?
Yes but I could say the same about London, Leicester, Bradford, Oldham etc etc etc. I just used Birmingham as an example.
If almost every city I went to was full of nuns I might conclude we were all living in a convent.

We really want migrant workers, who want to come here and work, but will go home/elsewhere if the jobs dry up. The only problem with them, is that they tend to send a lot of money back to their relatives and do not spend in in the local economy.
I assume the view that the country is awash with workshy immigrants is a Daily Mail myth. There are probably a lot more workshy Brits, but they don't maker the DMers as cross.

Now even the immigrants are saying we have too many immigrants.......

Whilst everyone on here know that I along with the vast majority are against mass immigration into this country, for various reasons, BUT.....................
Did anyone watch "The day the immigrants left" BBC1, last night?
This was certainly an eye opener, it was about the East European immigrants that worked in the town of Wisbech.
Well they set on some English unemployed on a temporary basis to do various job, some worked as asparagus pickers, some as potato packers, another on a building site and a lad in an Asian restaurant.
Admittedly they could have picked some work shy individuals, and threw them in at the deep end, but they definitely didn't make the grade.
The potato packers couldn't keep up with the immigrant workers, the asparagus pickers also, the lad in the restaurant couldn't stand the pace and jacked the job in, the only one that made the grade was the builder/plasterer, who the boss kept on till the end of the contract.

That was what prompted this post AOG there was an article on BBC yesterday bout how they really put us to shame!
but in a more ideal world if you were in charge of bringing in immigration to do the work what measures could you employ to make sure they did the work?
to me this is a rhetorical question because people can come over for work and the company folds as they arrive in the country-thats just one example of why an immigrant could come over to work and then find there is nothing for them!

How can you tell a workshy immigrant from an industrious one?
Easy peasy.
Go into a newsagent and look at the bloke behnid the counter. If he's an immigrant, he would've been up since 05:30am, getting the papers in, checking stock etc.
His kids will be the ones in college and his parents will be the ones living with the family, rather than freezing in a flat somewhere, occasionally visited by their relatives when they can be bothered.
Now - pop off to a social security office. The workshy immigrant will be the one queuing up for handouts.
Pretty easy to tell the difference between the two if you ask me.

Do you have any facts to back up your argument?
If you want to be taken seriously, why not actually think about what you are saying.
From the immigrant loving Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail....nearing-1million.html
Do you really think that there are less than 2 million legal immigrants in this country? (clue here: if you think that the number of illegal immigrants is in the majority, then that means over 51%. Which means that you must believe that there are less than 2 million TOTAL immigrants).
Those damn facts get in the way of your argument every time, don't they.
