Hello, Don't know if anybody can help me out there. I am trying to piece together my family history with minimal success. Part of my childhood was in an orphanage which is now a housing estate. The orphanage was St.Josephs (for the boys) and St.Annes (for the girls) the latter was the one I spent time in on at least two occasions. I know there must be records somewhere. It was run by nuns (R.C.) very strictly and I just want to know when and why we were there. I have written to the Bishop of Southwark who apparently deal with this area to no avail. I have also left messages with Orpington library and am waiting for them to get back to me. I am on the right track. Regards

Thank you so much. I rang them immediately and I have to write in with my enquiry. They appear to have all the registers for the orphanage but said it may have been the local authority that put us in there. In which case they will inform me to which authority I have to contact to get all the reports. I cannot tell you what a help this is to me - although I also feel sick to my stomach! But eventually I will be able to draw a line underneath it. Thank you once again
I am glad to have been of help pip.
I just hope you get the closure that you seem to need.
If you need any more assistance, please just post!
Good Luck.
Good luck PJP - let us know how you get on x
