how the hell does twitter work
10 Answers
Ive looked in help and it doesnt exactly help,
so if you follow people like famous people you can see their tweets but you can never reply to a tweet of theirs i.e. send them a message because unless they are following you which is extremely unlikely they don't see your replys back??
Is that right or have a lost the plot.

To talk to someone on Twitter so they see you, put their name with an "@" at the beginning.
So, for example, If you tweet the following:
@answerbank You are SO clever
AnswerBank will see you on Twitter.
It is best used in conjunction with http://search.twitter.com/ i.e. look for normal people who you find witty, entertaining, and who share interests. Use some hastags, get involved with the #bbcqt (BBC Question Time) Debates and commentary which go on on Twitter on a Thursday night.
It can be fun, but everyone tends to flounder in the first few days.

Ummm has a point - people will come round to it once there is critical mass.
It isn't all about famous people. The best thing is when loads of people you know use it - it makes a kind of "pub banter" easier as it is quite similar to you all being in the same room.
In fairness however, the Average Twitter user is nowhere near as intelligent and good looking and the average AB user.
