My husband had an excellent interview yesterday (Thurs). Could not have gone better. They said they would let him know perhaps tomorrow (ie today), but it was very busy, or certainly Monday. I reckon they would contact the successful candidate Friday, then, if they turned it down, they could move on to the 2nd choice Monday (ie if he didn't hear today, he probably didn't get it)... It's now almost 3.30pm and there's been no call... Do you think it's a 'no'...?

No, leave it a bit, they said "today or Monday" according to your post. They might not have made up their minds yet.

^ if it's anything like my place all the candidates have to be evaluated after the interviews and a shedload of paperwork put in place, and phone references taken - we can't always make final decisions in 24 hours, much as we'd like to.

Thanks very much. You could be right... I just can't bear the thought of going through a weekend without knowing... I don't think it would be good practice to call them. Just have to hope they do call, either way, Monday...

Just checked the original app. They say they normally take up refs before interview. I don't know if they have already been done, but, if not, I suppose that could indicate they are doing that today... Or am I just looking for excuses...?

I was told the same day when I got my new job and they hadn't got my references. They can make an informal offer subject to references occupational health clearence etc... However they've said today or Monday so you're best off waiting to hear.

I went for an interview today and wont know by wednesday how I did. I've also applied for more jobs today that pay a bit more so really dont know what to do. If I get this job do I just forget about others or go for them and hope I get them etc etc its a big decision in my life

i would just wait , i once went for a job interview as a supervisor in a well known foodstore , i didnt get it but was phoned a few weeks later to take a assistant manager position in a bigger store ,was well worth the wait ,good luck to your husband , 4getmenot , i'm sure you will do the right thing when the time comes ,good luck and hope you get one soon

apply for ones that you would be interested in , what have you applied for ? some people make the wrong choice because it is all there is to offer when looking hence back out of work a few weeks months later back to square one looking for a job ,if you are claiming benefits speak to your job centre about going on a course (if you have been out of work 26 weeks) that way you will get a feel for what could be the right job for you x

been out of work 9 weeks, am not on job seekers at all. I have gone for all jobs in sales in admin. Its just some pay alot more than the one I had interview for.

sorry i remember now you told me a few weeks ago, if you are thinking money wise i think i would hold out for the other job, when do you think you will know if you have that interview ? have you told the employer of the interview you had today you could start asap , If you get the other interview before Wednesday that could be helpful as once your interview has finished you will know how it has went and if you feel confident enough ask them when you would hear from them as you are waiting for word on another job but would prefer to work with this company ,you could actually mention it while being interviewed as this would look very good that you are telling them you really want the job

well one of the jobs I applied for today was through a recruitment agency and they rang me today to say the comany needed someone ASAP so I may be able to get early interview. They company today know I am unemployed so could start straight away so thinking if I did get job would start following Monday, so gives me a week to try get answer out of other company. Maybe I wont get either in which case I went for 3 other jobs lol

lol well at least you are trying , I will be most unhappy with you if you get offered all 5 haha then you will be in a pickle ,yes a week should be long enough to get answers though
