My brother as "self employed" but he is not declaring it. He is also claiming housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support!! If infuriates me, I have told him to declare but he is not bothered and has the attitude "if they catch me they catch me"
I feel like grassing on him myself to teach him a lesson for being so cocky!!

I'm paying taxes to keep him. Name and shame, and I'll report him. Greedy sod.

Also just to add, he has been working for 4-5months now.
It's off a broad board. Say nothing.
Yes I would, But I would tell him I had also
I would mind my own business. What goes round comes round in the end.
What goes around comes around - I have yet to experience this phenomena
So boona is your loyalty to the tax thieving government more than that to your brother? jealousy maybe?
So what is your stance on Benefit Fraud Fullofsorrow?
Anything illegal and immoral is bad and shouldn't be done. But i wouldn't grass up my brother but educate and convince him to stop it instead.
Has anybody ever tried to live on benefits? Believe me, it's not easy. If someone can earn a few extra pounds then good luck to them.
He is one of many unfortunately, Does he have a conscience! I feel sorry for the hard working tax payers who have to fund them! The sooner the government clamps.down on the dodgers the better.
By the sounds of it Boona has tried to convince his/her brother to declare his 'earnings' but he obviously sees the whole situation as an easy way to make some extra money.

If you can't convince someone then you need to either ignore it (which in my opinion makes you just as bad) or you deal with it.

Interesting, ok well he has been in trouble for benefit fraud once before (got off with a caution) and he STILL hasnt learnt! I told him someone might grass him up and he said "if it happens it happens! (Im not jealous fullofsorrow, I could do it myself but I choose not too!) but he is soooo not bothered, he doesnt pay any gas/electric bills either, just keeps moving on when the debt gets too much!!
People like that really get on my wick!
if he's already had a caution for benefit fraud he won't get another chance. if he gets caught he'll be prosecuted.
Boona sorry about the jealousy comment, can I ask do you see him as a sponger? You say he's self employed does that get him a decent wage or is he struggling finacially? Not that it's a reason to commit theft but im just trying to get the bigger picture.
If somebody was struggling to live on benefit and had a small job to help things I probably would just ignore the situation.

But anybody claiming benefit and working full time and not feeling bad doing it (or the person being cocky or smug about it all) - then I would, and have, shop that person.
Never once during my year of struggling financially and mounting up debt did I once think, I know I will work cash in hand and claim benefit!

The self employed wage isnt enough to cover everything but he would still be entitled to benefits aswell to "top up" his income. He is just not learning and he is cocky with it! Its not like he is using the extra money to clear his debts, he is just spending it on beer and takeaways!
Question Author
I would feel really bad if I dobbed him in and If he was intending on declaring when he got straight it wouldnt be so bad, but he is not!!
