I'm 19, currently working full time and considering whether it would be possible to return to education full time.
As I live in a bedsit however, would I recieve any help with the cost of rent? I can't really see a way of trying to get back into education as it would make me homeless!!
I have been told by my local college I may still be able to enroll, but can't give up my job as this would leave me no means to pay for acomodation.
what kind of education were you thinking -a levels? college course? degree?
Unfortunately as far as i know (but don't quote me) not only will you not be able to get any help with rent you'll have to pay for the courses too. But why don't you get in touch with the provider of your choice and ask them? Most "full time" education isn't full time in the sense of the same as working full time, and a college course can be classed as full time from very little hours a week
I was involved a while ago with staff wanting to go into nurse training. If they took the bursary route, the bursary was very much less than their previous salaries, but they then became eligible for various benefits and subsidies because of their low annual income. Worth looking into that if you are thinking of going to uni.
Go to the collage and ask to see the burser, I'm sure they can help, as you are only 19, finance IS available, Also try going to the CAB they will tell you what benifits you are entitled to. Its far better to train someone than to have them on the dole for the rest of their life. Good luck, and dont give up x
Thanks very much. I have been to the local housing department and they have said it is unlikely I would recieve any support, but the person I would be best talking to was unavailable!
I was hoping to do a BTEC level3 Business course. It would be 3 days in college with 2 days study.
Just seems there is no way of going back into further education!
