As you may all know by now I was made redundant back in February because of lack of work in our offices. Anyway whilst doing my daily job search I have seen they are advertising again for my old job!! I dont know whether I should be angry at the fact they didnt contact me to see if I wanted to go back. Should I apply? Would you go back to a past job?

It could do no harm to apply for it. You'd know the job inside out, and the people who you'd be working with.
how can they do that 4get, I thought a redundancy meant that job was no longer there
but what have you to lose?
Bet that has made you feel great! Not. Similar happened to me, they advertised through an agency I joined and they put me forward (I had all the experience to do the 'temporary' job!) but I was declined....maybe they think I would have created a fuss or been bitter at being made redundant earlier, I am not sure....all sorts of reasons I suspect. I would apply if I were you although be prepared for a refusal...good luck!
4get, they are surely breaking the law if this is the case. Redundancy is for the post not the person, it means they no longer need that job done.....
Seems a bit strange that they are advertising exactly 6 months after you were made redundant. I believe 6 months is the minimum time they can recruit for a job after someone has been made redundant. Could be a way to replace people on lower pay.

well it wasnt there at the time bobbi but they have got busy again. Plus I'm not looking at it as a long time position now as hopefully start family but I need something for moment. This is through a recruitment but I have emailed the boss direct to take into consideration having me back. They would be silly to train someone new.
PS _ but if they've got round it, and it's legal, then yes I wouldn't mind going for it. Redundancy doesn't mean you weren't good at it, only that they didn't need that job doing last February. They're certainly not obliged to contact you, you're an ex-employee now, you might have been happily in another job if things had worked out ;-)
posts crossed - yes, your application would show you've already done the work, must surely be in your favour!
I wish you luck then 4get, go for it, why not!

No, they can't advertise it again before the 6-month period is up.

Mmmmm I have emailed the boss and said I would like to be taken into consideration
prett certain the issue wasnt that they didnt want you, but more that they couldnt afford you. the conpany wasnt in best situation financewise.

its always worth applying :)

Rang woman who still works there redcrx to get more info and she is moving to other office down south! So is her job. She reckons they just probably had to do everything by book and advertise. She is going to talk to them and explain she wouldnt need to train me etc so she could move away sooner.
Question Author
mum seems to think its because they are probably too proud to hold their hands up and say they made mistake and wasted all that redundancy money too. So they'd rather I go to them.
Yayyyy .......... is that the DrainJob .......... DrainBabe?
