am now working tomorrow night. I usually work in admin for a company that supplies care for people at home. They are a carer down so i stepped up

Working nights is ok, well that is if you game for it. Last wek I worked nights.
Next week I go in for 2 am. I always prefer an early shift, earlier the better...

My daughters partner does that job, he has 3 NVQs, several certified courses in rehabilitation and community care and a first aid qualification, he can't type for toffee though and so he couldn't be an admnistrator.

I went from working in a cosy lab job, to caring for elderlies, after a short health scare., and took redundancy! best thing i ever done.
I still miss the ole girls and boys after 10 yrs now doing nothing.
What a waste --i often wonder how they are

its not just meals and bed 4GET. sometimes its much more than that, but much more than that I can tell you. I cant say right now, as I wouldnt want to put you off the job as a carer x lol

4get, for one night working as a carer, your going to love it!
I've got some really sad stories that I came across, but wouldnt change it for the world. I would have loved to talk about it, but tonight isnt the right time.

pusskin i know its alot more but i wont be doing those bits as not trained. I have had crb check so just being used for double ups. Onetoomany ive been in job for 2 months now x

What company provides care at home 4getmenot? Is it just for the elderly?

I'm full time carer for my wife so I'm on the go every day and night. Mrs Andyvon was hit on the path several years ago by a scumbag 15 year old who had stolen a car. She's brain damaged and can't be left alone. My wife's very happy, although she doesn't really undestand what's going on around her and has trouble speaking, although I know what she's trying to say. Mrs Andyvon lives in the present and has no real memory or concept of time. She doesn't even know what day or month comes next or what month or year we are in. I have to do most things including help her get dressed, and all the cooking, cleaning, shopping etc. She doesn't understand money and if she were out by herself she hasn't a clue how to get home until we are outside. When we go away, even for a week, my wife hasn't a clue where we are or where we've been when we get back!

We got a lot of help until 2007 when they started these cuts. Now the day centre Mrs. Andyvon went to 5 days a week has closed and I have to look after her 7 days and nights a week. We get almost no help at all. I go for a long walk in the middle of the night when Mrs Andyvon is asleep and I get £25 a month to go swimming, although the life guards have to watch my wife as I don't have my glasses on. That's my time to myself. Social Services say my wife is lucky to have me and they have to concentrate their limited resources and funds on others who are isolated and have no one.

Hope you enjoy tomorrow night 4getmenot. I would be interested if there is someone who helps at home. We just we get along one day as it comes. We have one meeting a month at the NHS to check we are OK then we don't see anyone till the next

andy..............surely there must be some assistance for you to help with mrs a.....you must be exhausted mentally and physically. do you have any relatives who would give you some time on your own and they could sit with mrs a ? your experience is a disgrace and i admire you for all you do, sorry for intruding 4 get.
