jury service and nightshift

im currently on jury service , NOT SWORN in yet but still the the stage of attending court and getting sent home or ringiing the hot line...
my question is this, I have to ring the jury line tonight to see if i am due to attend on thrus or fri but i am also due to start nightshift thurs night until mon morning..., do i go to work ? am i exempt from work til the whole jury episode is over?

its such a grey area its hard to understand .

If you are called for jury service, you HAVE to be available to attend. If going to work would make you unable to attend then you don't go to work
I was expected to report to work on the days I was excused...although distances involved meant I only went in half days... it depends on your employer I think. you probably wouldn't have to work sunday night as you couldn't attend the court on the monday morning if you did
Soon after my 18th birthday (many, many years ago) I was called for jury service – it’s good to see that the court staff running the operation today, are just as incompetent as they were - way back then.
