I've now narrowed down my uni course options to 9! Now what do I do? It looks like me and mum'll be having a few trips to the south coast and wales this summer aswell as 3 places in east anglia.

Anglia Ruskin (cambridge), UEA, Essex (colchester).

Bangor.

Plymouth x 3, Portsmouth and Brighton.

well it's a start, plus the one at essex is an intergrated masters course for 4 years . . .

But they do avry in entry requirements from 240 points to 360, from BBC to ABB/BBB

Any advice?

work out which one will give you a better chance of finding a job at the end of it
Question Author
Recrx I'm guessing the combined one's give more varied options but the mb/ ecology on their own ones probably go into more depth for it.

Any thoughts on the intergrated masters course at essex?

Helen, that's why i've looked at courses with grades as low as 240 which you could get with A2 Ds aswell as a few points from gcse and any dropped ASes.
Question Author
But st andrews is AAA or A*AA if you want to go straight to the second year!
no idea, i didnt need a degree, i could go straight into a job and start earning.

You could contact potential employers and see what sort of degrees theyd look favourably on

There's an old saying - "get into the best you can" Molly - so your pitch should have a couple of your top Unis and a couple for insurance if you don't make your grades.

Not considering Marine Bio at St Andrews then? That's supposed to be a hell of a job.

I would then think about distilling out the key factors that you are looking at in a course and weight them out of a 100 or 200 points to get at their respective importance to you. So that when you visit you can quietly grade each of the places. This should include not only the academics but residence, safety, social, sports, etc etc..........
sorry - job should read course (and very employable afterwards)
The town of St Andrews is nice but it is a little cold.

DT i'm confused about st andrews (how it works with apparantly everyone doing the same bio units to start with then specialising etc), plus it's minimum of AAA which I think is a bit too ambitious.
Question Author
I reckon i can get As in biology and geography but i'm not sure about maths and chemistry.
Did you say Brighton, Molls?.........

JJ, me and you here?..........it'll be like Mary Mungo and Midge ..........lol

Best of luck whatever you decide, young lady......... any advice is welcome, but the decision is ultimately yours. :0)
Question Author
I knew jj lives in brighton, i didn't know you do aswell though . . . how farr are you both from the uni?
an ex of mine studied marine biology in plymouth and has gone on to complete a phd and use it vocationally, last I heard she was out off the coast of Kenya.
Definitely consider onward options though and maybe start sourcing potential career moves now to get an idea of what's required because we all know how the situation's getting. I done hispanic studies which I now think was too academic as I couldn't find any job in which I could use my languages.
Depends which campus you go too....there are three here in Brighton, one in Eastbourne and one in Hastings. :0)
my best mate was in brighton uni, lived in varley Halls or somewhere, was great fun.
