But like with Waterloo Road, is it really that bad if the student is over 16 and knows what they're doing ie not stoned or drunk? And neither would be cheating on a partner (IMO in WR Miss Montoyas a bit of a sl@g at the moment though).
but teachers have their career to lose. They're supposed to be role models. Of course some people can be weak when it comes to lust but a teacher sleeping with a student knows exactly what risks they're taking.
The school and so the teachers are supposed to be "in loco parentis" - in the place of parents - and should be taking care of the children however old, not abusing them because that is what would be happening. The teacher would also be abusing the trust given them.
It is an offence under the Sexual offences Act 2003 for an adult in a position of trust (e.g. teacher) to engage in sexual activity with a person below the age of 18, maximum punishment 5 years imprisonment.
If they "teach" you other skills, and they do not charge for it they could call it education, and they could say it is above and beyond the call of duty. My teachers were not like that, though.
